    Coles 4038's
    Royer SF24
    Neumann M49's
    AKG C12's
    Neumann KM84's
    DPA 4011's
    Sanken CU41's

Depends a lot on the drummer, the kit, the room, and the style of music. Do a Search, I'm sure you will come up with numerous threads...

It's highly dependent on the drummer, the room & the sound of the instrument. The great majority of the drum recording I do is on Jazz sessions & I go back & forth between KM84's & KM140's. The 140's being a bit more detailed & the 84's being a bit more, um, rounded off. I have lots of other stereo pair options here & mostly I find them to be different but not better, or much worse, except in the case of C414B-ULS's in cardioid, which I've found to be dramatically worse, to my ears, than any other pair I've used.

    You can add
    Shure KSM 44's
    Gefell UM57's
    Gefell M582's
    Telefunken AK47's
    Telefunken M16 Mk II's
    KM84's
ELectrovoice RE1000's (I think that's the model - the weird large diaphragm condensers that EV made 15 0r so years ago).

    To the list.

I'd add Royer R121 and AT 4047 to the list.

    [Edit]

I forgot to mention the AKG C480 w/ CK61 cap.

Am I the only one without a small type signature?

Looks like the answer is anything that sounds good!

If the room sounds great I use a pair Earthworks QTC30's. If the ceiling is an issue KSM44, or any other good cardiod.

I'll second the AT4047s and add a pair of AT4041s!

Years ago Rich Chinn pointed me at large diaphragm Neumanns for overheads. Counter-intuitive to what I know about mics, but you can't fault something if it works, and it does.

Interesting that this topic should come up just now... got an email from Rick a few days ago, he's coming to town to visit his daughter who goes to school here.

The elites have squandered the country's wealth on two of the costliest and most useless wars in American history while blithely pretending that the environmental crisis doesn't exist. We no longer have any mechanisms within the formal structures of power that will protect or advance our rights.

Anything that you've got 2 of in the mic locker... in my case I use a pair of Rode NT1's going through Joe Meek VC1q pre amps. They sound fine once they're dialled in. Would be nice to have a whole lot more to choose from though!
