Default Where will all the batteries go, long time passing....

I wonder if anyone has thought about this aspect of electric cars. Toyota's putting 250,000 electric cars on the road each year with huge batteries that will last from 5-6 years and then each will require a replacement battery at a cost of between $10,000 and $15,000. (Nobody talks about that much. What if you went to the dealer to buy a $30K vehicle and he said "You realize you'll have to pony up for half the price again within the next 5-6 years, right?")

Where will we put 250,000 huge batteries when they no longer work as batteries? I don't hear the green "pro electric car" folks talk about that much.

I didn't know those things about battery cars. Sounds like the scam of a lifetime in the works - dunno.

As for the batteries, there seems to be more and more of them laying around the streets, and I can't recall any bandstand that wasn't littered with 9 volt/AA batteries changed out on the fly.

This 'green' business sure is making a mess.

Looks like $2500 to $4000 is a more realistic replacement cost.

Prius chat was 5 years old, the article was 2 years old...

With inflation, the current weak dollar (pun unintentional but relevant) and the Prius being the int news right now, no telling what is accurate I imagine
