    Default Muffin

Our female dane, Muffin is having some serious health issues. It may be autoimmune. Whatever it is, it's inflamatory in nature and estremely painful. Right now, Prednisone is keeping it at bay while the tests are run. I figured I'd troll for a prayer or two for her. You guys did a great job with Crashbasket a while back. He's going strong and I thought he was a goner for sure.

    Thanks,

Crash is back in top form. He's getting old though. Both of them are around 7 1/2 years now. We've given them good lives and we've been lucky to have them. I know what's coming and I've been there before. Still, it's hard to outlive your kids and that's an inevitabily. Muffin is no better/no worse this morning. Whatever this is has caused some liver damage. It showed up on a blood test that was done about a week ago. Her checkup yesterday showed a bit of improvement in this area, but not as much as we had hoped. She's experiencing some tremors as well. I'm going to go downstairs now and give her a big hug. We got some more tests that haven't come in yet but if this doesn't start to improve pretty quick, I'm going to take her up CSU, just like I did with Crash.

    Best regards, Brian.
Thanks Brian. We have been steadily reducing her dosages of Prednisone. She continued to do better and better until yesterday when we were down to 1/3 the previous dosage. At that point the symptoms started returning. All blood tests for every imaginable illness have come up negative. I was so hoping that whatever this evil thing is that was attacking her was over and done with but this does not appear to be the case. Next week I'm taking her in for a spinal fluid draw. If that doesn't provide any answers, we're off to Ft. Collins to the Mayo clinic for animals. Thanks for the prayers, you and everyone else here.

Also late to the party, but I'm on it.
Am I the only one without a small type signature?

Muffin is really having a hard time now. The loss of Crash has had a pretty serious effect on her. They were a very bonded pair and she seems to be grieving for him and is very depressed. The autoimmune thing has definitely kicked into high gear again as well. We've got her on Cyclosporine now and it seems to be keeping this under control but I'm starting to get the sense that she's going to give us "the look" pretty soon. She's old for a dane (8 years+) and she just seems to be starting to fade. I hope this turns around, but I'm readying myself for the inevitable.
