    Well, there's that all right.

But still, most people should be able to use their computer for several years without a problem. Or no more problems than you have with a new car or new TV set.

I'm really curious - where can/do you take your oil/filter to, Todd?
It's easy around here. Our county has an oil recycling tank at the landfill. AutoZone will take it too, as well as Sears and O'Reilley. The retail places will take the filters for recycling as well, but our county dump can't take the filters, just the oil. Oh, and I have an auto shop near my house that will take the oil and filters both - Wursters, in Franklin.

For us, the warranty issue is what keeps me from doing my own oil. Once the warranty is expired then we're OK. Here we have eco-stations that we can take the used oil, filters, etc to.
Am I the only one without a small type signature?

How on earth could changing your own oil void a warranty? That is ridiculous! You are for more likely to do it right than some of these imbeciles I've seen doing it in a mechanic's shop. Oil changes are what the "interns" do while they study for their ASE certifications...

    Preach it!

It is ridiculous. It's retarded. It's a lot of things. But if there's ever a problem and you can't prove that you've done your regular maintenance on schedule at a warranty approved facility, your repairs will not be covered by warranty.

I hate it. I hate paying $80 for an oil change (I use full synthetic oil). But I hate paying big $$ for repairs even more.

A Grand Caravan, special edition. (I have 3 kids...) So with a Grand Caravan, I want to be careful to NOT void the warranty when they've not always had the greatest history - though thankfully in recent years they have become much better on the reliability/quality front.

We got rid of the old BMW and are on the prowl for another vehicle... But I know BMW had the same warranty policy.

Lynn, the problem is that you just don't have Vivitar's latest space age technology.
