To be honest I am just wanting to make the best choice in the current upgrade. I am mixing a project right now and want the best bang for the buck so to speak. My budget is around $600 and I am not locked into the uad or waves if you all know something better that would make great strides in that amount. I don't have much now, just some t-racks plugs, nomad factory and some others(good and bad) that I have picked up over time (mostly free or included with DAW).

Not sure how far $600 will get you with Waves. My first Waves bundle was $4K. And that was back in 1998.

What kind of PCI slots does your CPU have?

Fwiw, Waves just dropped their prices by 40%.

Gold bundle is $600 or you can get a couple smaller bundles aimed more specifically for what you are looking for.
Both Waves and UAD are good...

I think now all I have left is PCIe 2.0 x2 and 2 PCIe. I guess a lot has changed in 13 yrs. For $600 now you can get any of the signature series bundles of plugs (and have $200 left over) or go into the Gold bundle, which has 24 plugins(including one or two of the hybrid series). I think the v series is also in that price range if I did not want anything else as well. The Abbey Road series from NI might also fit in that range, but don't seem to offer as broad a spectrum for mixing. But hey, all those Beatle albums sound pretty good.....

Tom beat me to it. The Beatles and George Martin and Geoff Emerick never used ANY of those plugins.

I also want to add about customer support... not owning UAD, I cannot comment, othert than to note as I had above that it seems to take them a long time to solve problems when there is a DAW or OS update. But I've never had a problem with Waves support. Doesn't mean that you won't but I haven't. At trade shows I've had Seva shaking his fist at me and making proud proclamations about Israel.. but gee, who hasn't. (g) Seriously though, I had no use for support because for some stupid number of years I didn't have the WUP,.. and in all that time I never needed any help. But when I updated in the fall I took the time to call them and make sure that I was doing everything properly. The fellow who helped me could not have been nicer and was very good.

I know the question is Waves versus UAD but it might be worth your time to take a look at the URS Channel Strip Pro. I get a lot of mileage out of it.
