Default Another major earthquake in NZ.

Guys, if we could uphold the people of Christchurch NZ in prayer, particularly for emergency personnel involved in rescues, doctors etc. There has been another major earthquake, this time at 12.15 noon. Looks like major devastation and loss of life. Our little country is going to struggle with this one for a while, I felt quite sick at heart watching the footage on TV this afternoon. Heartbreaking.

Heard about it around 6 PM tonight, local time. I've been praying since. I hope all our friends in NZ are OK and made it through unharmed.

Were you hit at all, Tim? (Sorry, I have no clue about NZ or how far you may be from the havoc)

    Prayers sent.

Hi Troy, I was setting up mics for a session with a guitarist in the afternoon and did notice one of the doors rattling a bit at the time that it hit. However, we are a long way from Christchurch NZ has 2 main islands, north and south - Chch is halfway down the south island and I live halfway up the north island. We do have a forum member who lives in Christchurch, I remember that from the last earthquake they had in September, praying that he's OK.

    Heard from Tim this morning:

    Hi John

All OK here, we are a good 400 miles North. But not so good for the folks down South...

Well the mess in Christchurch is bad. I guess a lot of people will be considering moving away from the area after this and the quake last September. It is going to be years before they can repair the damage to the city infrastructure, and I can see many businesses going under. Unfortunately we are affected in that the company that makes our chassis parts (Betacom) is based in ChCh. We were expecting a shipment from them this week. I am in text contact the sales rep who was in Australia when the quake hit and he has not managed to get access to the factory yet. If things are bad, I might have a real problem on my hands fufilling current product orders.

Ian McAllister is 3db member who lives in Christchurch, hope he is OK.

Tim, thanks for the links to the picture. I hope you can come through this OK. We often overlook the "collateral damage" to people that are not immediately effected by a quake.

There were clips of CCTV tapes of store shelves being emptied over at Weather.com. Pretty horrific.
