RME makes a format converter for just such a task...

At 20 bits, you are on the verge of dynamic range covering fly-farts-at-20-feet to untolerable pain. Really, what more could we need?

I wish I could find another. That RME unit is $900 CAN for what seems like a simple task to me...
Am I the only one without a small type signature?

Find an Alesis AI-1. They should be dirt cheap these days. ADAT to Toslink, SPDIF, or AES. And vice versa.

I think Z Systems also makes a format converter.

Yeah...I thought that RME was too much for what it was.

I did find this by SoundPal:

I'll try to find a price.

The Alesis AI4 is a current piece from them and sells for about $400.

Just to add Friendchip and Mutec to the mix.

I think Ivo had his Mutec for sale a while back.

The RME/Nuendo(badged) 8DD unit also offers TDIF and SRC, which can be useful in some instances. They can usualy be found on EvilBay for about USD$500.

Be aware the now-discontinued AI-1 will only pass 16 bits, IIRC. That AI-4 looks more like the ticket.
