Default No Place Else To Do This

Last Saturday at 1245 PM, my father passed away, slipping from a coma into death quietly, peacefully. Last few years of his life were full of physical and mental anguish, interrupted only briefly by moments of rational thought. While my prayers were answered and he can finally be at peace, it is not easy for any of his children nor those who knew and loved him during him during his near 97 years on God's earth.

Col Morgan was the perfect combination of soldier, father, citizen, businessman, gentleman, and lived his life giving more in time, effort, and money to the less fortunate than I ever knew until very recently. He always had a kind word for people and animals, and never backed down from anyone who threatened his loved ones or his country. He was a highly decorated WW2 hero, instrumental in developing battlefield medical systems including helicopters for evacuating wounded and the MASH implementation during Korea, and countless other advancements many of which are still in use. He continued on with the military, retiring after 32 yrs of service. After another wildly successful career inbanking, he left when 'the system got too big and uncontrolled to be considered honest anymore.' The only lie he ever told me was about Santa, and eventually came clean

Even during the tumultuous years of my rebellious teens when we fought about everything I maintained the utmost respect for the man....he always has been and always will be my greatest hero, and I shall miss him every day

Ken, so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Sounds like he was an amazing man, someone who would have been worth getting to know.

Grace, and peace, Ken, to you and your family. I know the memorial will be a joyous time of retelling bits of his story. You had your Dad about 30 years longer than I had mine. I envy you that.

You have great memories of him. It may not seem like enough, but they will be priceless. RIP, Col. Morgan.

We had the burial service for Dad yesterday with military honors at Ft Sam Houston yesterday. He will ultimately be placed with Mom in the same plot.

In attendance were the 3 children and spouses/SO, representatives of the state, local, and national Masonic Lodge, and the past national president of the Sojourners. Dad had literally outlived nearly everyone he had known of his social peers. Afterwards we went to eat and share memories. There was more laughter than tears by this point.

Thank you for allowing this here.

Ken, I've been away for several days and just now saw this. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know that grief all too well and all too recently. I'm glad you had time with all the family and there was laughter. Those times are golden, truly the landmarks of our lives.
