Default Ribbon & Mic resources on the web

I thought I had started a list of ribbon resources from the web, just so I could easily find them. Maybe I did. But now I can't find it. (I put my car keys somewhere so I wouldn't lose them and now I can't find them!)

I've let people know about this amazing resource:
    http://www.coutant.org

And I just stumbled across another with lots of pictures:
    http://www.k-bay106.com/photos.htm

If you come across any others, please add them to this list.

    From my "favorites":

The proper link to K-bay106 mics is: http://www.k-bay106.com/mics.htm
This includes tons of great stuff including technical documentation, photos, a "market watch" of current microphone values, and even a list of RCA 77 knockoffs (mics that look similar to the 77).

Steven Sank (does the famous "77dx mod" on Beyer and other ribbon mics). http://www.thuntek.net/~bk11/bk11.htm

Here is a huge collection of links (that includes DYI Ribbon info): http://www.prodigy-pro.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=256

Here is one of the links from the above list. How to replace the ribbon element in a ribbon mic (with helpful hints from Dave Royer ): http://www.lkmusic.co.nz/ribbonfix.htm

Home brew ribbon mic, what a hoot! Made by a student in a dorm room.

It looks like a stiff sock.

Here's another cool source of vintage mic pix. And the coolest mic poster ever made.

The Royer "about us" page. http://www.royerlabs.com/about_us.html No big deal, but on this page there are links to a "tour" of the making of an R121 and also the making of a SF1/SF12, which includes (low resolution) photos of the insides of the Royer microphones.

While I am at it, I know that this is in other posts, but since Fum is here, I should mention that the ShinyBox ribbon microphone is (I think) the least expensive ribbon microphone that money can buy. http://www.shinybox.com/index.php?cP...f9a987833d3ac9
And if $165 is too rich for you, he also sells the ribbon cartridges for DYI projects.
($25)--just add a body and transformer. Also there is an upgraded version for $265 that uses the Cinemag CM-9888 output transformer ( http://www.cinemag.biz/mic_output/mic_output.html )instead of the normal one.

It should be noted that these mics are made in China and are basically the same thing as the Nady RSM-2, t.bone RB-500, PPA R-One, and APEX 210 (which run ~$200).

Just to clarify, the ribbon motors/elements are a short term deal, I've a limited number of them.

I'm really into building custom equipment(which is why I find that corrugator so cool), so I brought in a limited number of motor assemblies to offer up to the DIY community, as kind of a respect/thanks/help thing.

(There's a lot of people who have helped me, who I'm very thankful to, and being on the other end of the equipment stick, I know what it's like to source hard to find parts, meaning properly tensioning 2 micron thick aluminum is not necessarily everyones idea of a good time =) ).

    Regards

    ju
