I've confirmed the availability of an ftp site and all files will be uploaded to there within the week. Access will be by password only and each person will have a unique password. So far I have 28 people who have expressed interest in participating.

I will post the instructions for what to do here and will likely set up a different folder for discussion of this topic.

It would be neat to have at least one analog mixer reference on the disc... Just a thought..

Great minds run in the same ruts.

I thought of that too. I just sent an email to someone about doing just that. But it wouldn't be a fair test because there would be an additional DA-AD layer in there, so the analog mix would be different before the summing even was considered. But it could be accurately calibrated and would be very close.

Let me think about that one some more. Interesting it would be, no doubt.

But then, I'd have to keep all the identities secret so no one would know which was which until after they mailed in their ballots. Which might be cool anyway. Anyone that gets the CD has to send in their ballot to get the answers. Hmmm. That would keep people really honest. Or scare them off completely.

    Interesting.

If no one has volunteered these apps already, I am willing to mix on Sound Forge Vegas, and Steinberg Nuendo.

I absolutely want to see the results of these included.

Big thumbs up on this. Let us all stick our foot in our mouth before we know the answers. If it is not blind listening then it is biased listening.

The analog mix on there would be a beautiful thing too. So what if it ain't fair about the extra conversion. That is how the majority use Protools anyway.

Would you use calibrated tones to get the mix right on analog? Then you can keep adding analog mixers in the future and build up a mix buss "library" of sorts.

Yes, the tones will be included and also a sync pop to make sure they can be realigned after the mix is done.

    Greetings Lynn,

I'm sure you have this covered, but it occured to me that people opine differences in the mix bus of PT and PT le. So, do you have maybe an HD system, a Mix sytem and say a 001 (or M-box or 002)? Seeing as you're going to all this trouble, it would be good to see if the floating 32 bit is different to the fixed 24 etc.

btw, is someone doing the SADiE mix?

    Best regards,

I have a SADiE 4 lined up and expect to have a 5.

Yes there are multiple versions of PT. I think there are at least 5 so far, including at least one running on OSX (PT6).
