    Pictures from Paradise

Here are just a few to whet your appetite. There were lots of cameras (you can tell because people are looking all over the place!) and most people have agreed to send me copies. If anyone else has more pictures, I would love to be able to use them as well. When I get them all together, maybe I'll do a slide show. These below were taken by George Cumbee and John Wheeler.

Here are the members of the designer's panel. Left to right, they are John Hall, Oiver Archut, Doug Fearn, Dan Kennedy, Lynn Fuston, sponsor Fletcher, Greg Gualtieri, Geoff Daking, Grant Carpenter, Dave Hill and George Massenburg. Hey, wait a minute. Hutch was there too. Where did he go?

Here is the engineering panel (L-R again). Bil Vorndick, Brian Tankersley, Fletcher (who was on this panel), Lynn Fuston, Chris Huston, Russ Long, Michael Wagener and John Wheeler.

Here's George Massenburg, listening to me ask a question.

Here are two closer shots of the designer's panel in action.

I have to admit that it was one of the coolest moments (days) of my life to be among such an amazing group of creative geniuses like this. To be able to sit and ask them questions is an experience that few will get and I feel deeply honored and privileged to have done so. I figured all in all, there was more than 250 years of experience in audio circuit design represented on that panel.

And who knows how many Gold and Platinum records and total number of units sold were represented by that engineering panel. It was astounding to listen to them talk and freely share ideas and techniques. You will enjoy hearing it, no doubt.

It's going to take a while. I've got twenty four hours of video to edit (4 cameras x 6 hours) and then we have to record the preamp comparisons in March. With all the editing and artwork and replication, I'm shooting for AES in the fall. Faster if I can, but I've shot myself in the foot before by announcing "optimistic" release dates and everyone is frustrated when that happens. So probably October. It's just too significant a project to rush through. Plus I still have to earn a living by engineering as my day job. I'll post clips and teasers as I can. It's an enormous job and I want it to be done right.

In this day of instant gratification, where everything can be downloaded or streamed, I know that's not the answer you'd like, but that's what I think it will take.

The hardest part will be deciding what stays in and what gets cut out of the video. I have six hours that need to be pruned down to two hours to fit on the DVD. Ouch.

Maybe a Director's cut version where everything stays in? I hate to edit any of it. It was all so fascinating.

Here's a slide show of pictures from the Preamps in Paradise day, which will give you some idea of how it went.

Here are some short video clips from the panel discussion. I could have waited until I finished the editing, but I'm eager for people to see what it was like.
