Marabeth Jordon, female vocalist for the 3D Pre-LP, and Lynn Fuston of 3D Audio, in front of the "Wall of Preamps." Marabeth beautifully and dutifully sang the same passage over and over again (a total of 37 times) while the panel of engineers listened intently. You'll have to hear the CD for yourself to hear how consistent she was, even after three hours in front of the mic delivering consistently musical performances,. Marabeth has sung on albums by Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Vince Gill, George Straight, Martina McBride and others.

Many distinctive design features make the McPherson guitar an absolute delight to record. You'll hear what I mean when you hear the CD. It's truly amazing the guitar sound you can get with the right instrument through only two microphones, absolutely flat through the right preamp. David has played on records for Amy Grant, Donna Summer, Stephen Curtis Chapman, Pam Tillis, Twila Paris and many others. As he played, David heard the differences in his headphones and decided his personal favorites. For a session guitarist with thousands of dollars invested in instruments and other studio gear, a high-quality preamp that makes his instrument sound its best is a sensible investment.

After singing through the same passage 37 times on an Audio Upgrades-modified AKG C-414 B ULS, we decided to go back and hear what the Manley Reference mic would sound like on his voice.

John Wheeler played his Slingerland snare for our listening tests. We used a Shure SM-57 microphone since it sounds great on snare and it is the "most common denominator" mic in the world.
